Welcome to the world Samuel Robert Connors!!
It has been quite an eventful last few days!! We are still recovering from everything. I don't want to become too repetitive because I put most of this into facebook as it was happening. So I will try to recap things in a nutshell. Betsy and I went in for a routine weekly appointment at the OB/Gyn on the 28th of July. While we were there, they were noticed Betsy had high blood pressure. This resulted in what we thought would be an overnight stay in the hospital. We actually welcomed this as a relief from the unbearable record breaking heat. The hospital A/C was great but the sleeping accommodations left much to be desired. On the 29th, Betsy's doctor came in and said the blood pressure was still high so we would need to induce labor. She had preeclampsia and the baby had to come out. I wasn't near to being ready for this!!! I still had stuff to do around the house!! So I went home packed up stuff for us and came back to the hospital right away.
Well I won't go into detail about what was done to induce... it involved ripening agents, i.v.'s and various other drugs as well as female anatomy terms that might drive even some of the most hardened readers away. All I will say about it is PAIN!!! Betsy was in a lot of it. She was having contractions with no break in between. There would be 4 contractions right on top of each other then maybe a minute break than 3 more in a row... and this went on and on. She managed the pain very well and then finally had the epidural. Trust me when I say that there was a lot of that female anatomy stuff going on at this time.
Next thing we know... it's 2 in the morning on the 30th, the nurses are telling us to push a few times as a practice run for when the doctor gets there. After 2 sets of pushing they said, "No more pushing til the doctor comes." The head was right there! Crazy!! The next thing we know... the doctor is there, Betsy is pushing and there he was. 6 lbs., 14 oz., 19.8 inches long and beautiful as can be! Samuel Robert Connors. O.k. maybe it wasn't that fast... but it sure seemed like it. Betsy did wonderfully and I am amazed at how blessed I am to have these 2 people in my life now.
Betsy, Sam and I had to stay one more night at the hospital because Betsy's blood pressure had to be watched still. Well, the pressure came down some and we were allowed to go home on the 31st. The three of us drove home... One very tired and happy family!!
Now I know I should have pictures up here at this point but I don't really have a great camera. As a matter of fact I have been mostly using the camera on my mac to take pictures or I have been grabbing stills off of my flip video camera. I plan to have a new camera soon. Here are some pictures I do have. Nothing fancy and no fancy comments as well. Just us trying to get some rest.

Betsy and Sam just minutes after the big event! And me dozing off with little Sam.
Sam and us just hanging out. Don't worry, we'll get some waking shots soon. Trust me, he doesn't sleep all the time. Definitely not.
Well, that's it for now. We have a new boss in the house and we must cater to his whims. Keep an eye out for more pictures as soon as I have a new camera!!
